BYD pulled the wraps off the pre-sale of its Da Han EV — a D+ flagship sedan for the Dynasty line — at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show on August 21. Pricing starts at 249,900 yuan (about $34,460) and tops out at 299,900 yuan ($41,360). The headline number is a CLTC range of 1,008 km on a single charge, delivered by the second-generation Blade Battery — the same pack BYD recently designated for FAW Hongqi. It is the most concentrated expression yet of what Dynasty chief Lu Tian has been teasing for months: a car that turns BYD’s component leadership into a finished flagship.

The numbers
BYD is offering three trims: a 1,008 km rear-wheel-drive Prestige, a 1,008 km RWD Flagship, and an 880 km all-wheel-drive Flagship. Dimensions put it squarely in full-size territory — 5,256 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, 1,510 mm tall, on a 3,130 mm wheelbase.
Inside the BYD Da Han EV cabin
The cabin is where BYD makes its luxury argument. Space efficiency is rated at 90.8% — what the company calls its “housing rate.” The front row gets dual zero-gravity seats in full Nappa leather with ventilation, heating and massage. The rear backrest reclines 12 degrees and adds a thigh bolster and a right-side footrest. Trim uses a suede-like headliner, soft-wrapped door panels, and hand-finished American white oak veneer imported from Europe.
The party piece is the world’s first black PDLC tunable glass: it switches from fully transparent to opaque in one second and adjusts to ambient light. A privacy glovebox opens by password or voice command. All four doors carry acoustic glass, and BYD claims more than 200 noise-optimization points across the body.
Audio is a 31-speaker Devialet system with eight headrest speakers, three independent listening zones, a 2,320 W dual amplifier and Dolby Atmos support. The screens run a 17.3-inch central display on DiLink 6.0 — integrating the Qianwen and DeepSeek large language models — powered by a Snapdragon 8295P chip, alongside a 12.3-inch passenger display and a 17.3-inch rear entertainment screen. A three-spoke wheel, a wide horizontal dashboard and wood-grain panels complete the flagship look. There is even a climate-controlled box rated from −6 °C to 50 °C.
44 breakthrough technologies — Lu Tian’s “surprise” delivered
Lu Tian, head of BYD’s Dynasty network, had promised “more surprises to come” when he first showed the Da Han in late July. At Chengdu, that teaser resolved into BYD’s pitch of “44 globally leading technologies” bundled into one sedan — the second-generation Blade Battery, megawatt flash charging, Yunni-A air suspension and God’s Eye 5.0 among them.
“Da Han and the third-generation Tang enter the D+ sedan and large five-seat SUV segments respectively,” Lu said, “embodying the technological and systemic strength of Chinese brands pushing into the high-end market.” The Tang, unveiled alongside the Da Han, targets a Q4 launch with 850 km of range and its own second-gen Blade Battery and flash-charging setup.
Lu also hinted that the Da Han is not the final word. At Chengdu he said BYD is still holding back further breakthrough technology — the kind Chinese coverage dubs “black technology” (黑科技) — and will reveal it “when the time is right,” without committing to a date. It keeps the “more surprises” thread he opened in late July alive for another act.
What the Da Han means for BYD’s flagship push
The Da Han is the sedan sibling to the Tang and the clearest signal yet that BYD wants to own the Chinese executive sedan segment — not just compete on value. At 249,900 yuan it undercuts imported D-segment players while offering specs that read like a million-dollar car.
Just as notable is what sits underneath. The same second-generation Blade Battery in the Da Han is the one BYD recently designated for FAW Hongqi’s next-generation platform — making the Da Han the in-house proof point for a battery BYD is now selling to rivals. Pair that with BYD’s megawatt flash-charging network, which is set to reach 20,000 stalls by year-end (already past 7,000), and the Da Han looks less like a single car and more like a rolling showcase for BYD’s vertical integration.
